Sophisticated choreography of gene expression programs is fundamental to all aspects of life and is also the basis of epigenetic inheritance. Gene expression can be regulated on numerous levels, from transcription, to RNA processing, to translation. BMCB laboratories investigate the mechanistic basis of gene regulation and how gene regulatory programs intersect with fundamental biological processes. Their studies employ diverse models and multi-disciplinary approaches, including single molecule, microscopic, genetic, biochemical, genomic, and computational strategies.
