The properties of macromolecules arise directly from their structures. Knowing the atomic structures of biologically important molecules is critical to understanding the mechanistic basis for their function. BMCB laboratories are experts in revealing previously unknown structures of important protein and RNA molecules using NMR, X-ray crystallography, and cryo-electron microscopy. Crystallographic studies at Cornell are facilitated by CHESS, Cornell’s very own synchrotron source.
