Stephanie Yazinski, a third year BMCB student, has been awarded a predoctoral fellowship from the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program.  The proposal, entitled “Roles for the DNA damage checkpoint protein Hus1 in breast cancer,” centers on the use of a mouse model to test how impaired Hus1 function influences cell transformation and mammary tumorigenesis.  Stephanie is a member of the laboratory of Dr. Robert Weiss in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
